As promised in my earlier article on Effective Ab Exercises Men I’m going to share with you some of my unusual sources of protein.

We harp about it all day long – protein – it’s the perfect food if you want to build big strong muscles, lose weight and get that defined ripped look. But to reach those goals you’re going to need to get your hands on only the best sources of protein available. But not only quality matters here, to achieve that ripped look you need to, on a daily basis, feed your body 1 gram of protein for every single pound of body weight. Bookmark this page now, or write down the information as it will serve you well in the future.

Lets Take a Look at Cod

Cod is the daddy when it come to low saturated fat, serving up just a measly 0.5%! Cod also contains magnesium which can help you during training. It generates energy efficiently and assists with muscle contraction, preventing you from getting cramp.

You won’t need to put any salt on your Cod as it’s already high in sodium seeing as its a sea water fish after all.

I highly recommend serving Cod with a nice big portion of broccoli. In recent medical studies, scientists have discovered that foods rich in selenium and sulforaphane can have a powerful effect on cancer, 13 times more powerful if eaten together. This was music to my ears as my favourite dish of Cod and broccoli is rich in both!

Molluscs Like Clams Are Another Good Source Of Protein

This unusual source of protein also contains over three times the RDA of the rare vitamin B12. B12 is used by your nervous system to work efficiently, and it also supplies the energy your body needs for the metabolism of carbs, proteins and fats. There’s also over twice the RDA of the antioxidant selenium, just like Cod. This antioxidant can prevent your muscles from cramping after an intense workout.

Clams are high in cholesterol, so if you have a cholesterol problem its probably best if you just avoid them. however, recent studies at A&M University have found that cholesterol can help to build muscle, but only for people with normal cholesterol levels.

In my opinion, clams are best eaten with tomatoes since they are a good source in Vitamin C. Vitamin C increases the absorption rate of your body, allowing it to process more of the iron contained in the clams.
